EFC 2019 European Congress, Rome

Monday 30th September 2019

Zilico were proud to support the 8th European Federation of Colposcopy (EFC) European Congress 2019 in Rome last week.

This year the scientific programme focussed on the impact of HPV vaccination on colposcopy, management of cervical cancer, adjunctive technologies within colposcopy and management of colposcopy challenges. The 34th Congress of the Italian Society of Colposcopy also took place on 25th and 26th and was preceded by a Training the Trainers course and Basic Colposcopy course attracting many new colposcopists and those looking to move into skills training.

The European Federation of Colposcopy was formed 20 years ago with the aim of improving the standards of colposcopy throughout Europe.  It is a federation of 34 national colposcopy societies and is uniquely placed to both influence and represent European colposcopists.

Over this time, in addition to holding large triennial scientific meetings and many European courses, the EFC has developed influential training guidelines and clinical performance quality standards.  These have been achieved through effective collaboration and regular focused satellite meetings that have generated a number of published reports and scientific papers.

The meetings were very well attended with around 800 delegates from many Italian regions and from the EFC affiliated countries, with presentations from key opinion leaders from gynaecology, pathology and quality sharing learning and experiences.
