Professor Brian Brown, Academic Founder

Professor Brian Brown, Academic FounderBrian’s main research interests are the practical realization of Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) and Tissue Spectroscopy (EIS) as routine clinical tools. He pioneered the development of EIT and initiated European Union Concerted Action Programmes in this field. He has contributed to about 250 scientific publications and patents and also to several books. Brian is based at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Dr. Peter Highfield, Technical Director

Dr Peter Highfield, Technical DirectorPeter has over 30 years experience in industrial R&D, particularly product development, and has worked in the diagnostics and biotechnology markets. He has held senior management or director level positions in Wellcome Diagnostics, Murex Diagnostics and Tepnel Life Sciences. Latterly, Peter worked with Sameer as Head of Life Sciences at Plasso Technology Ltd until the company was acquired.

Mr. Sameer Kothari, Chief Executive Director

Sameer Kothari, Chief Executive DirectorSameer brings over 15 years commercial experience to Zilico. Prior to joining in November 2007 Sameer was CEO of Plasso Technology Ltd, a venture capital-backed company developing research tools and labware for the life sciences. 2007 saw the launch of its first product, EpranEx, a new generation research tool for life scientists. In May 2007, Sameer successfully led a trade sale exit of Plasso to Becton Dickinson Inc.. Prior to joining Plasso, Sameer was a senior executive, with roles in strategy, business development, HR and M&A within Marconi plc. Including a management board position within mainland Europe.


Mr Darren Neill, Sales Director (GB)

Darren has been working in the healthcare industry for nearly 20 years, with a specific   interest in women’s health and colposcopy. Over the last eight years Darren has been   heading up healthcare distribution businesses and joins us from Touchstone Medical, part of the CME Medical Group, where he was Managing Director. Prior to Touchstone, Darren was Commercial Director of a niche distributor of gynaecology and dental products where he increased sales by 50%+ over three years.

Mrs Janine Redgrave, Office Manager/ PA to CEO 

Janine has over 20 years’ experience of office management and has worked as a PA at senior level across various industry sectors. Janine joined Zilico in 2016 as PA to Sameer whilst providing support to the Zilico team on a daily basis.

Andrew Saipe, Commercial Director

With almost 25 years in the medical sales industry, Andrew joined Zilico from Purple Surgical where he was an International Sales Manager for 8 years responsible for a number of markets throughout Europe & the rest of the World. He was also the head of training for all new recruits as well as international delegates.Prior to this, Andrew had his own business as a distributor as well as several years spent working for Covidien.

Professor John Tidy, Clinical Founder

SJohn Tidy, Clinical FounderJohn is Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. He is a certified colposcopist and a recognized specialist in gynaecological cancer surgery. He has a proven track record in clinical research attracting funding from Cancer Research UK, World Cancer Research Fund International, NHS New and Emerging Technologies Programme and the Pharmaceutical Industry. John has published in high profile peer review medical scientific journals including Cell, Nature Genetics and the Lancet. He is currently the chairman of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme National Advisory Committee for Colposcopy and President of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Andrew Womersley, Head of Operations

SJohn Tidy, Clinical FounderAndrew has over 20 years experience working in the medical devices sector covering devices across several therapies.  In that time he has worked at various levels within many divisions including Quality, Servicing, Contract Management, R&D and Production.  Andrew has worked for several recognised medical device companies including 3M, Abbott Laboratories, Fresenius Kabi, Hugo Technology and most recently ConvaTec.

Ms Christina Zavadsky, QA and Regulatory Affairs Manager

Christina is a quality and regulatory affairs professional with 3 years of experience with high risk medical devices such as urogynaecological implants and medical lasers. Prior to joining Zilico she was involved in the maintenance of quality systems and successful regulatory submissions in various global markets including EMEA, APAC, NA, and LATAM.

Dr Jamie Healey, clinical Scientist

Jamie has had a 20 year history of bioimpedance research in both the private and public sector.  He is currently employed at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital within the clinical engineering department, where he works on novel medical device innovation. He has recently developed a system for a trial for using bioimpendence to predict the onset of preterm labour.  He has published on a range of medical devices.

Julia Price PR

Julia Price is an experienced Public Relations (PR) and Communications consultant with over 15 years of practice within the industry. Julia has a great understanding of PR and has been responsible for writing and delivering communications strategies designed to deliver an organisation’s needs and business objectives. Before coming a PR consultant within the medical technology industry, Julia spent three years running a Communications Department for a large global AIM-listed medical device company. Julia’s background also includes working as a News Journalist, an In-House PR Officer and a Senior PR Officer for healthcare PR agency Medilink.

Mr. Paul Webster, Company Accountant

Paul Webster, company accountant

Paul qualified as an Accountant in 2005 and has over 15 years of experience in the Accountancy profession. Paul previously worked in Chartered Accountancy Practice before joining SUEL Limited where he now encourages growth in a portfolio of start-up companies including Zilico Limited. Due to the nature of these businesses, Paul has been integral in the due diligence process of trade sales and investments, most notably a trade sale of a company for US$30 million and has also recently been involved in the IPO of a company. Paul recognises the cashflow requirements of these companies and has been able to reclaim R&D Tax credits amounting to more than £750k.
